Our History

Life Skills University is a pioneering initiative of Skillizen Learning Global, a Singapore headquartered socio-educational venture with a presence in 70+ countries across the world.

The Genesis of Skillizen Learning Global can be traced back to the global financial meltdown in 2009, which left a successful corporate executive from Singapore very disturbed about the poor judgment and ineffective decision-making skills displayed by the political and business leaders across the world. That trigger led him to the Harvard University in 2010-11, wherein he conducted an in-depth research to find a solution to the global challenge of acute deficiency in critical skills across its populace. In the summer of 2011, his path-breaking and interdisciplinary research offered the following game-changing conclusions-

a) The acute deficiency of critical life skills is the main cause behind the world’s biggest manmade challenges.

b) The right age to transfer critical skills to the human brain is 6-18 years during its hardwiring stages of development.

Those conclusions were further validated with worldwide research spanning across 40 countries and finally, in 2013, Skillizen Learning was incorporated with a singular yet audacious goal of transferring Critical Life Skills to 1 billion children across the world. With the sheer intensity of its focus, Skillizen Learning became the first port of call for anything and everything related to Life Skills. Over the next 5 years, hundreds of curriculum developers, educationists, psychologists worked day and night to create the world’s 1st comprehensive, criterion-referenced and evidence-backed Life Skills Curriculum. In 2018, Skillizen Olympiad Foundation was established in Singapore to launch the world’s largest life skills assessment initiative across 71 countries. That led to thousands of children getting a personalized life skills assessment report and subsequently their parents demanding for life skills curriculum facilitated by certified life skills trainers.

In 2019, Life Skills University was instituted to help fill the capacity gap of Certified Life Skills Trainers in the educational ecosystem across the world. In due course, Life Skills University has expanded to offer a wide range of life skills transfer programs for high school students, real-world readiness and employability enhancement programs for college/university students and its flagship certification program for International Life Skills Trainers and Master Trainers.

Life Skills University -Singapore is an integral initiative of Skillizen Learning Global, and retains total intellectual and functional autonomy. The university is responsible for the development of educational content, certification programs, teaching and learning strategies through curriculum development.
